The following seven workshops are being offered on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8, 2016:
1) CREATE BRAVELY with Denine Jimmerson and Jane Reynolds (Fablevision)
This workshop will introduce MSAS program teachers to using the updated version (formerly known as My Awesome Publishing Company) of Get Published! book writing software.
Teachers/Administration will understand: (1) the District's goal for using Get Published! in the MSAS program, and (2) how to use the new version of Get Published! from both the students' and teachers' perspectives

2) "LEARN TO ANIMATE WITH ANIMATION0ISH...EVEN IF YOU CAN'T DRAW!"
Think you’re not a good artist? You are! Computers make it easy and fun to animate. Learn the basics of animation using Animation-ish software. This class will be taught on Macintosh. You don’t need your computer to participate, just watch and learn!

3) MINDPLAY

MindPlay Virtual Reading Coach teaches reading to any student grade K-12. Participants in this session will 1) Understand the Struggling reader 2) actively engage in of MindPlay components PA, Phonics, Grammar, Vocab, Fluency and Comprehension lessons and activities 3) understand the management system and add students, classes etc.
Objective: to learn basic program Implementation Strategies for working with MVRC students; to discuss experiences and questions about the MVRC program that had come up over previous implementation, and to understand the data from the reports.
During this session, the teacher will:
• Have a firm understanding of how to pull reports and interpret the data.
• Have a firm understanding of how to add, transfer, delete students and set licensing
• Learn supportive strategies for helping students as they work in the program
• Refresh understanding of MVRC components: Universal Screener, PA, Phonics, Grammar for Meaning, Fluency, Comprehension and Vocabulary

4) MYON

MyON is a literacy solution that combines personalized reading, breathtaking content, and scientifically-based assessments to leverage technology for multiple delivery methods. This hands-on workshop is designed to get schools up and running with myON. Participants will learn how myON is reinventing student reading and how teachers can use myON’s tools to provide targeted support for individual students, groups, and classes. We will focus on the following key elements:
• Identify the essential steps necessary to create a personalized learning environment for readers.
• Develop an awareness of key functionality and tools as related to managing literacy programs.
• Learn how to blend myON with MindPlay and existing resources to ensure proper pacing of scope and sequence.
• Interpret learner data to determine instructional plans and strategies that will support learners to meet their potential.

5) Lots of Quick and Easy Ways to Implement Failure Free Reading in District 75’s Middle School Afterschool Program

Significant instruction changes have recently been made to Failure Free Reading. The changes were made to help serve more District 75 students. The purpose of this session is to provide an ‘ease of use’ guide for Failure Free Reading’s new District 75 Middle School Afterschool implementation.

6) STMATH

"ST Math is instructional software that teaches mathematics visually so that students develop a deep conceptual understanding of mathematics. Based on neuroscience research, ST Math develops students problem solving and creative thinking skills. Students have fun learning math by manipulating visual models.
In this interactive session, teachers will: a) develop an understanding of how the puzzles and games work in ST Math; b) learn how to get students started on ST Math; and c) understand how to monitor student progress and support student learning”.

7) DREAMBOX
Personal computer per participant essential & Headphones required
This training session on Dreambox Learning will include an overview of DreamBox, how it works, best practices, and navigating the teacher dashboard; the Insight Dashboard. The dashboard brings your data into focus so you can get the answers you need to drive instructional decisions. Know at a glance if students are mastering the standards, where learning gaps exist, and where you need to focus your intervention efforts.
